Our Story
For years, we lived in a constant state of exhaustion and worry, navigating life as parents of child diagnosed with both brain cancer and autism. Between Hosptial visits, therapies and the emotional weight of uncertainty, we searched desperately for respite care- just a few hours of trusted support so we could rest, regroup, and be strong for our child. But every door seemed closed: endless waitlists, programs unequipped for complex medical needs, and concerns for safety in environments that didn't truly understand a child like ours. We often felt invisible in a system that wasn't built for families facing layered challenges. That experience changed us. It showed us that not only the gaps in care, but the deep need for compassion, understanding, and specialized support. Today, we are turning our pain into purpose with An OSM Place, designed by parents, for parents-creating a safe, nurturing space where children with developmental and medical needs are genuinely understood, and where families can finally find the relief, trust and support they deserve.
Owen's Story
An OSM Place was named after Owen, who was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 13 months and autism at the age of 4. Owen has transformed how we see the world, in ways we never expected. Through Owens journey we have understood that communication is so much more then words- its found in gestures, patterns, expressions and moments of connection that other might overlook. We have a new sense of patience on a deeper level, the kind that isn't about waiting, but about truly meeting Owen where is is. Owen has such a joy for life that shows us what unconditional love is in the purest form. Not the kind that expects, compares, or rushes-but the kind that accepts, adapts, and grows. Owen has shown us to slow down, to notice details, to find joy in routines, and to truly appreciate a different rhythm of life and the is what is so incredibly beautiful and its all because of Owen.
